Its combinator brush gets to corners and edges and automatically boosts suction once it spots carpet. It is also effective at cleaning dirt and debris that are embedded in carpets that are mid-pile. The IQ has a small footprint and has a self-emptying feature. If you want to change the floor level or set zones that aren't allowed, you'll have to manually reset the map.
The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated features, however it lacks no-go zones. These are only available on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing navigation system provides greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, although it does have a tendency to get caught up on rug tassels, and its iHome speaker allows you to control the robot using voice commands.
During our tests in our tests, the IQ was adept at handling pet hair with ease, removing huge amounts of debris from bare floors and fair amounts on medium-pile carpet. It was a little less effective on shag carpet, where it struggled to get at dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able navigate chair legs, small spaces, and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a bit slower on flooring that was not fully covered however, it was able to recover speed and performed better than other robots that we tested.
The IQ is a better option for most users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin, a longer battery life, and is better in navigating around obstacles. It also has mopping attachments that are able to tackle sticky mess. The iRobot however, feels better constructed, has fewer components that need maintenance or replacement and has lower recurring costs, can create virtual no-go zones using its companion application. It can even resume a cleaning session from where it left off in case it runs out of battery before finishing the job. The iRobot can also be controlled using voice commands, which is a huge plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S eufy robot vacuum isn't among the most feature-rich models, but it does offer great cleaning power at affordable prices. The RoboVac 11S is made for those who are budget conscious and don't require a complicated mapping system, or even an application to control it. The robot can run for a long time and includes an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic finished to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice departure from the industrial and utilitarian designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
In our tests, the eufy 11S was extremely effective at removing larger particles and fine dust on hard floors. However, it was unable to give high and medium pile carpets an effective deep clean. The device is capable of bumping into furniture and people along its path. However, it is able to detect obstacles with sensors. When it encounters them, it ceases to move and emits a loud sound so you can manually guide it around the obstacle and get it back to work.
Another great feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction power to match the floor type and the amount of the mess. It's also simple to use the remote to direct the 11S to where you want it to move.
Single Room Mode is a great option if you have little furniture in the area you'd like to vacuum. The eufy will spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
You can also choose Edge Cleaning, which reduces the time spent in each location to 20 minutes for optimal battery life. If you select this option the eufy moves in a spiral fashion, tackling corners and edges for an efficient clean.
